Sliet looked at him like he was going crazy. "You did?" She asked, questioning her own memory. "Huh". She sat up and stretched, blocking out the chill i` the air but noticing Harir shiver. "Were going to have to find you a new coat too. That ones way too conspicuous now, and theres no way its warm. How's your back anyway? "She inquired, standing and gathering her own blanket.

Harir glanced back at her as she questioned herself. He hoped she believed him, he was kind of worried she thought he was a creepy now. As she mentioned the coat and addressed his back, he shrugged. "It's fine." He replied curtly, still too embarrassed to respond normally. He started to open the door and then closed it again, stepping back. "Shit." He breathed. Harir looked back at Sliet, pale. "There's about ten soldiers heading our way-" He said under his breath. If they hadn't seen the horse yet, they had seen the building, and he doubted they were going to pass up a chance to get out of the wind.

Sliet jumped a bit when Harir cursed, taken aback. It was common enough for her to do it, especially now that she didn't have to blend in, but for him to do it was different amd it made her uneasy to say the least. She paled when he told her what was coming, her mind going completely blank for a moment before racing a million miles a minute. They could make a run for it, but the chances of getting caught or going through the same thing as yesterday were too great. They could try and sneak out somehow, but they would probably be seen and if they got away at all they would be on foot without a horse the rest of the way. They could hide, but they would end up without a horse again. If they were to fight it would be about five to one assuming Harir's judgment was sound in the split second he had looked outside, and she didn't dare look out to check again. A whole lot of ifs and none of them sounded good, but five to one sounded like the best odds they had, and they were even better off if they could bottleneck the troops through the door, maybe cagcn them by surprise. They were outnumbered and likely outgunned, but if the two played their cards right, the soldiers might just be outmatched. "Get beside the door."she whispered, unsure of how close the enemy was, though she couldnt hear them yet. She presed her back to the wall, leeching some of the warmth out of her shoulders as she waited for Harir to do the same. "We can catch them by surprise, get them as they come through the doorway. "She reasoned waiting for the sounds of footsteps or anything really.

Harir fallowed suit, his heart racing as he braced himself by the door. What fallowed was approaching footsteps and a few curious, quiet voices and hushing of those voices. From what he could tell it was a bunch of young recruits, they were trying to sneak up on them, or perhaps the horse.
He had his knife drawn, remembering with frustration having traded his pistol for the coats. He remained silent for a moment as the horse made a worried noise and some of the soldiers argued before someone barked hushed orders. He doubted it was a captain, a lieutenant maybe. He tensed as he heard a gun click before the door started to move. A recruit rushed in, and he lunged immediately, taking them to the ground in their surprise, he was able to drive them to the ground and kick the gun away before they could really fight back. He let go of the stunned soldier and picked up the gun, backing up and aiming before two others stopped where they were- half way in, rifles aimed. He fired twice, hitting one of them in the chest, who stumbled into the other. Several gunshots went off and bullets tore through the walls as the soldier on the floor tried to pick them self up.

Sliet drew her pistol grimly. She hated the thing, but she was pretty sure she would hate dying even more. She took a deep breath and leaned around the door, firing three times and watching two soldiers fall before retreating back to her place behind the door. She eyed the soldier on the floor warily, weighing her risks. She could try and shoot them from here, that would be kind of a waste of ammo, and she would need that. Knocking them out wasnt an option, that would make her an easy target. But if she were to leave them, just for now, maybe it would be okay? They would have ro go right by her in order to get out, and they didnt have their gun anymore so they would have to get closer if they wanted to hurt either of them. Her back pressed tightly to the wall, she ducked around again, firing twice, using the time ro get a read on the enemy.

The soldier Harir had shot didn't move, while the one they had fallen on scrambled back and took aim immediately at Sliet. Harir fired again, and a second time before they fell still beside the first. Taking a shaky breath, Harir drew back as Sliet shot out again at the soldiers. There was yelling outside now as the five or so recruits left standing moved back and attempted to work out a plan. He glanced at the one window- caked and blocked out with snow- that wasn't an option or a risk. He just hoped they didn't have grenades on hand.
The kid who had fallen backed up a little before weighing her unlikely chances and covering her head with her hands for the moment, cowering and praying to be overlooked rather than fighting back with no weapon.
Harir looked from them to Sliet, uncertain of what to do next. They were pinned and if they waited to long they would be overwhelmed or shot through the walls, and then the recruit he had downed could be either shocked harmless or a very real problem. At the same time he didn't want to waste whatever ammo he had left if it might cost him his life, and he didn't think he could knife the kid. All the same they were running out of time.

Sliet looked over at harir from around the door. They had to get out of here sooner rather than later. "I'll close the door, run for the corner and I'll boost you out of the hole, then you pull me out. Well split up and go around the house to flank them before they can do anything. But we have to move fast, so if you have any better ideas i would honestly love to hear them." She whispered, keeping her voice down as much as possible so the soldier couldnt hear. Though she seemed to be in panic mode right now, that could change at any moment.

Harir nodded, crossing the floor after she'd shut the door and clambering up to the hole. When he was on the unsafe-looking roof and managed to get to a spot where it stopped crumbling underneath him, he reached down to help her get out as well, keeping low to avoid being seen too early.
The remaining soldiers had regrouped, five of them left standing as well as what seemed to be a lieutenant giving out orders, still oblivious to the danger.
One of the recruits noticed them and cried out, gesturing at them before stepping back to take aim. "There!"

Sliet chased after him, pistol whipping the cowering soldier on her way, effectively knocking her out. With Harir's help, she scrambled her way up onto the roof, keeping her balance easily enough. "Jump."she hissed when the recruit shouted, jumping to the gdound before they could get a shot in. She cringed at the way the impact made her feet sting but ran around the far corner of the house anyway. She ducked around in the shadows, coming around the side where they werent looking, making her both scared and grateful. Sure, they werent looking at her for now, but they were probably after Harir. She only had one bullet left, and she had to make it count. Before they could react, she stepped out from behind the building, taking a second to aim for the lieutenant before firing. She watched with a feeling of guilty relief when they fell, ducking back around the corner before they could return fire.

Harir moved to drop, stumbling as he landed just at the corner, no longer next to Sliet and managed to raise the gun and fire one more, cursing as he missed but at least managed to make them flinch enough to get behind cover seconds before another bullet cut through the edge of the stone corner of the wall next to him and nick his shoulder. He took a couple quick steps back as three of the recruits rounded on him. Panicked, he hit rammed into one of them, knocking them down as the other two fired a few misplaced shots, one even hitting their comrade on the ground. They were poorly trained, if at all, and while it wasn't hard to down them, three of them was a threat. He managed to take one down with a strike from the back of the gun but was hit again in the side by the third and toppled back. They took aim at him again where he lay next to the other soldier, but he managed to shoot a split second before and scrambled up as they fell.
As the other two watched their lieutenant hit the ground, the first pulled the second back to the wall. They flattened themselves against the stone and wood, the first trying to get his pistol unjammed while the second huddled against his back.

Sliet peeked around the corner warily. She could only do so much now that she was out of ammo, upon further inspection however, the last two that she could see, seemed about as bad off, if not worse. She could pretend she still had bullets in her gun, but that could getnher into even more trouble, however, a bunch of thsir friends including their lieutenant were laying on the geound dead right now. They must be scared silly, and that she could use. Taking a deep breath, she put on her most intimidating face, doing her best to emanate confidence and anger, she sttepped out from her cover. She took long strides straight for the two cowering against the wall, stopping about a foot away. "Hand it over"she growled to the one holding the gun, leaning down so she was looking them in the eye.

When the first one saw the girl come around the corner, he leapt up from where he was crouched, grabbing the other by the arm and trying to pull him along desperately. He didn't budge, frozen to the spot in fear, and the first boy got back in front of him protectively again, still trying to fix the gun in a panic. "Don't-Don't! Leave us alone!" He shouted, giving up and bracing himself against the other as the gun slipped from his hands to the snow.

Harir came around from behind where Sliet was, keeping his gun trained, though Sliet seemed to have the two under control.
There was these two, the one who'd been knocked out, and one other who was still moving where they'd been shot my the door a few meters away.
Harir limped up, uncertain of what to do next.

Sliet sighed, glancing over her shoulder at her friend. "You hurt?" She asked tiredly, knowing by now that he wouldn't tell her right away if something happened. Deciding that if he was standing whatever injuries he had could probably wait until thay wers riding, she turned back to the two cowering on the ground. She kicked the gun away absently, it may have been jammed but it was still a weapon. "Do you know how to find your way back to somewhere safe?" She asked, standing up straight and adopting her old captain mentality.

As Sliet kicked away the weapon, the first boy watched her carefully and finally let go oh his held breath, his chest heaving, clasping the hand of the other behind him as he realized they weren't going to die. He didn't completely understand, or know what she meant by her question, and didn't respond. Somewhere safe? He wasn't really sure where they were or where the main mass of army was now, and the closest settlement was Greenhill. He glanced over to where he could see one of the others was still alive, injured in the snow and cringed, wanting to go to the wounded other but scared to move or leave his current charge.

Harir watched Sliet as she left the boys. He was still on edge, but felt almost relieved she hadn't killed them, as well as conflicted with what to do now. He could tell from the bright red symbol above their soldier's rank on their shoulder that they were all mercy corps.
"A few scratches. I'm fine." He replied quickly, swallowing and heading over to the collapsed kid, getting him up and forcing him over to where the other two were after getting his weapon away from him. The third boy crumpled onto his side, holding his middle and half curling up as the first boy tried to tend to him while still keeping an eye on Sliet.
Harir waited for her to decide what to do. He would fallow whatever order she gave him, but he wondered with a pang of guilt if that was because he was scared to make a choice of just leaving or doing something about the recruits.

Sliet frowned a little at their lack of an answer. She glanced around at what was left ofnthe reast of the soldiers, unsure about how to feel about the lack of survivors besides thosemin front of her and the one unconsious in the house. Four survivors. Not bad. Almost half this time she thought bitterly turning to Harir determinedly. "Do you thinkmyou could get those two into the house? Preferably without hurting them? I have some questions for their friend on the ground there." She asked, trying not to order him to the best of her ability. She didn't want to seem like she was ordering him around. She had hated being the captain when she actually was a captain, and she certainly didn't need a repeat.

The first boy went pale as Sliet spoke again, clinging to the two beside him and trying to hold them protectively. He knew he wasn't in a place to bargain or fight back, but he didn't know what was going to happen to the injured boy and felt very scared. He remained silent as Harir walked over and drew him up, pushing him into the house.
Harir returned and had to force the other boy the stand, who'd gone into some kind of shock and was stiff and unresponsive in Harir's hold as he was moved along into the building with the two others, though the man attempted to be as gentle as possible on Sliet's request. Harir went in after them and stood against the door in order to guard them.
The third boy on the ground watched as the two other were moved away from him, taking in a sharp breath and glancing up at Sliet defiantly. If he wasn't in so much pain he would have tried to run, but he already felt weak and couldn't do much besides trying to stop the bleeding from the wound in his gut, and he'd lost his gun back where he'd fallen, so there was no point trying to fight.

Sliet watched them be dragged off, waiting untill the door closed before turning to the one left behind. She crouched beside the boy, trying to seem the least intimidating as possible while still serious. "What's your name? " she asked, meeting his gaze evenly, statring with an easy question. Besides the fact, if she knew his name, it would make itnharder for her to kill him later, something sh wanted to avoid if at all possible, and this would serve as good motivation.

He hesitated for a moment, number or name? Why did she want to know? "..August." He replied nervously, scared to break her gaze after she met his eyes. He couldn't do anything to stop her anyway, but he sure as hell wasn't letting his guard down. He clutched at the fabric of his coat, trying to hold it tighter against himself and the wound, he attempted to stay on his side, at least half protected.

Sliet nodded. "Okay, August. I'm going to ask you some questions, and if you answer them as best you cqn, ill help you with your little problem there. " she instructed, gesturing towards his abdomen. Even if he didn't tell her anything she would probably heal him anyway before leaving with Harir, though the odds of him not cooperating didn't seem too good at the moment. "Deal?"

He watched her with distrust. Why would she help him? And how? He highly doubted that there was anything she could do that wouldn't just kill him more slowly, but... maybe? He just wanted the pain to be over, and the least he could do was try. Then again, even if she did help him, how would he return after having given answers to these people? They were more than just deserters if they wanted to know things about the military. He hesitated again, but nodded, looking to the side.

Sliet smiled warmly. He was going to make this easier. "Great." She chirped, leaning back to sit on a patch of dead grass. "Now, first things first. Why were you heading this way? Any reason besides shelter?" She asked the injured boy. She had to know if they were being followed for their little stunt the day before, and if anyone else might be following.

August hesitated, his voice a little rough when he spoke. "Shelter, supplies, anything- the military isn't supplying enough rations anymore," He coughed for a moment and winced before going on. "W-we saw the horse and it's military tack- and Lieutenant said you were deserters." He explained before closing his eyes for a moment and catching his breath, waiting for more questions.

Or, once you took care of us i guess."she inquired a little awkwardly. It felt weird to talk about killing eachother considering their current positions.

August glanced across at her with tired eyes, hesitating again. "W-we were looking for deserters from the federation, from the uprisings-" He got out, coughing again, this time blood came up against his sleeve before he relaxed a little more against the snow. "They're trying to control it...scare people back into their houses. They won't." He added without thinking, something of a small grin on his face as he lay there with his eyes closed again, as if he'd been waiting to something like that.

Sliet raised her eyebrows at his answer, more than a little bit surprised at the final words. That expression only lasted a second however, quickly changing into one of joy and amusement. She leaned over him, hands hovering over the wound in his side. "Can you keep a secret? " she asked finally, actually starting to worry about the boy before her. Sne couldn't heal the dead after all, and they had a deal.
