Sliet glanced away, as they delved back into silence. She watched the fire for what felt like forever before the quiet agitated her too much. "Why don't you go to sleep?"she asked Harir, looking over at him. "I slept all day, so I'm not tired, but I can't say the same for you. " she explained, fidgeting a little with her coat.

Harir looked up at Sliet hesitantly. He didn't feel up to refusing, but he didn't want to just leave her awake alone. "I-If you're sure. But you can wake me up if there's any reason for it, or if you want me to take a watch." He added. As soon as he'd laid down he went almost immediately still as he fell into sleep.

Sliet watched him rather fondly for a moment, before turning back to the kids. There was no way she was going to be able to sleep right now, she was wide awake, or as awake as she could be. She tried to take interest in the fire again, but it was no use, the silence making her twitchy. "Uhh, I guess I'm already somewhat aquainted with August, but what are your names? " she asked curiously, looking up at them again.

They were all Silent for a moment, as if no one wanted to speak up first.
"..Piper." The girl said softly, glancing up and then away again. "That's Roy and Matvey." She added, gesturing to the Brunet and the boy barely moving against him. "Mat wont... talk to you.. or hear you, though... But he's a sweet kid-" The last part was added on hurriedly, as if she didn't want Sliet to get the wrong idea about him.

Sliet nodded, just happy that she managed to get someone to talk without that one, roy was it? , shutting them down. "Well, I'm Sliet. Sleeping Beauty over there is Harir, dont mind him too much, he has some, er, problems. Sorry for hitting you earlier i guess, Piper, but, you know. " she said, rubbing the back of her head absently.

Piper nodded. "I-I understand. I... It's hard to talk with you like this after what happened... and.. I wish the others weren't dead... But it's just like that.. I guess." She replied solemnly. "We just want to go home... or.. somewhere that could be a home, is all." August nodded in agreement, covering a yawn with his hand and then warming them again. Roy remained silent, staring down at Mat with a slightly softened expression as the other fell asleep in his arms.

Sliet nodded understandingly. She could understand that, it definitely wasnt something anyone could get over easily, if at all. She looked at her, almost surprised at the question. That... was a complex answer, and she wasnt sure how much she wanted to tell them. "I'm going home too. Figured I'd be of more use there, or at the very least it's safer than where i was." She explained vaguely, trying to answer truthfully without giving up too much information.

Piper nodded. After a little while Roy fell asleep with his arms around Matvey and August and Piper laid facing the fire for warmth

Sliet looked around as the others fell asleep, the silence making her uncomfortable but now she couldn't do anything about it. She sighed, standing up and grabbing her blanket and gently throwing it over Roy and Mat, careful not to wake them up. She threw some more brambles on the fire and did what little tasks she could to keep herself busy. Eventually, she sat back right where she had been with nothing more to do. Unable to think of anything else to do, she laid back and closed her eyes. Harir would probably be angry at her for sleeping when she was supposed to be on watch but he was sleeping right now. And so was everyone else, so she curled up on her side, close enough to the fire to stay warm and slowly drifted off to sleep.

Sliet woke with a start, sitting upright quickly, her breathing ragged from panic. Shee looked around fearfully, lookingfor enemies in the near darkness now as the fire had died down as she slept. She had just been dreaming, good. All the same, she looked over at Harir worriedly, relaxing as her eyes caught the steady rise and fall from his breathing. She fed the fire lazily before flopping down on the ground again to sleep, this time just close enough to reassure herself that he was breathing.

Harir blinked awake slowly as he noticed Sliet got up quickly and moved around, seeming upset. As she laid back down, closer to him, he shifted to sit up a little. "Sliet? Are you alright?" He asked her gently, glancing over at her form painted washed a soft orange by the light of the flame. The camp seemed calm enough, the four kids were all huddled together, soundly asleep, the fire swaying a little in the mild breeze. Had she heard something? Or maybe had an unsettling dream? He shifted the blanket so it covered her as well, worried she would get cold. Even with the fire there was still the snow and wind at their backs.

Sliet jumped at the sound of her name, rolling over to face him hesitantly. "Yeah, just a bad dream. Sorry to wake you. "She said softly, trying not to seem too eager to snuggle into the blanket as he shifted it over her, the warmth comforting.

"It's fine." He replied quietly, laying back down on his side and glancing over at her. He wasn't sure if he should comfort her or let her deal with it. He didn't want to patronize her. He patted her hand assuringly before his eyes fluttered closed again.

Sliets eyes widened as he patted her hand, unsure of how to react, though she certainly didn't mind the contact. As he closed his eyes she decided to get some more rest, rolling over and closing her eyes, sleep coming far easier this time.

Sliet woke slowly, laying in the warmth for a few minutes before opening her eyes. She watched her breath in the morning air and sat up, looking around at the others srill sound asleep as well as the remains of the fire. They may have to start a new one before heading out again. She looked up attentively at a strange noise feom nearby, craning her neck to try and find the source without moving too much. Her eyes widened marginally at the sight of three or four large birds over by the stream. She reached over to Harir without looking away from the creatures, nudging his arm insistently. "Harir. Come on. Wake up."she whispered.

Harir woke up quickly, scared something was wrong. He blinked at her sleepily before fallowing her gaze to the stream and noticing the birds. He nodded, understanding, and as quietly as he could, pulled his gun from his holster and took aim carefully. He hesitated for a second, trying to make sure he was going to get a good shot, and looked down the sight of his handgun before squeezing down on the trigger and firing. At the loud pop the birds startled and took off in a flurry, untouched. Tensing, he fired a second time and then a third in desperation but completely missed.

August sprung up at the sound of gunfire before Roy hauled him back down to keep his head down encase some sort of fight was going on. Mat clung to the older boy's arm as if on instinct while Piper attempted to get their attention, pointing at the birds. As soon as they understood the other three eased up and watched to see if the others managed to take anything down.

Sliet watched eagerly, she could almost taste it already. When he missed, she looked between him and the birds worriedly. The second time she grew tense, unsure of when they might find something else to eat. By the third shot she started freaking out a little. "Here" she said urgently, grabbing the hun out of Harir's hands. She took all of a second to aim, not wasing any time in fear they may get away. She fired, watching one of the birds fall with satisfaction. She handed the gun baxk to Harir, trying not to seem at all smug.

Harir said nothing but let a glare escape when she snatched the gun and took down a bird quickly. At that point where she gave him the pistol back, he didn't really care; They had food. Without really asking about it he went to go get more brambles to burn.
As he built the fire back up, he noticed August helping gather brambles, as well as encouraging the others too and wasn't sure what to think.
"We aren't getting fed, August, sit down." Snapped Roy under his breath.
August shrugged. "I'm cold anyway." Piling more brambles onto the fire carefully and blowing on the dying coals.

Sliet went to retrieve the bird, kneeling beside it and drawing hher knife, trying to remember how to properly clean these things. She worked quickly and efficiently making sure to do it to the best of her ability before bringing it back to the fire. She noticed August on her way back, smiling and thanking him for his help before setting the cleaned bird in a clean patch of snow and considering how to cook it.

Noticing Sliet trying to figure out how to cook the bird, he cut the bark from one of the thicker sticks and passed it to her to roast the bird on over the fire. They could try to support it with something but most of the bramble sticks would be too thin to hold it up. They could always take turns holding it, he guessed.
August glanced at Sliet as she thanked him, and nodded hesitantly.
The kids seemed sort of awkward; while they had been allowed to stay around the fire last night, they weren't decidedly sure if they were part of the group at this point or if they were expected to leave now that there lives didn't depend on the fire, as they had last night.

*tardis noises for the time skip*

Sliet tore a piece off of the freshly cooked bird, the meat nearly burning her fingers as she took her first bite. She let out a contented sigh at the taste. Sure, it wasn't her finest culinary work, but she swore it was the best thing shed tasted in a long while. She looked around at the others happily after a few more bites, confused when she noticed that the kids weren't eating. There was no way they weren't hungry, especially August with the amount of blood he'd lost. She was good, but even she couldn't help with that. "Aren't you going to eat?" She asked, tilting her head to the side a bit.

Harir came over to sit down, taking his knife out and cleaning it to cut the food, but noticed with amusement that Sliet was already digging in. Oh well, he was too hungry to care for table manners. Especially since there was no table. He ate greatfully, relishing the taste. It was better than any military rations they'd had, even more so with the hunger.

As she asked if the kids were going to eat, he bit his tongue, not overly surprised.
The four, who had been trying to hide their longing stares at the meat all seemed suddenly alert when she inquired about them eating. Roy hesitated, but was looking more hopeful that distrustful for once.
August was the first to move, not really waiting but letting out a stream of thanks as he took some to eat. Piper joined in, equally thankful as she ate.
Seeing the others eat, Roy too nodded a shy thanks before taking his share.

The three older kids didn't make any noise as they ate, too hungry to say anything or compliment the taste of the food.
Roy tried to get Matvey to eat, but the small boy seemed sickened by the food rather than hungry and barely managed to get any down.
A couple minutes after he had he was down by the stream with Roy, and vomited more blood than food.

Sliet watched matvey worriedly from where she sat, wanting to help, but she knew there wsd nothing she could do. Resigning herself to that fact and her feeling of uselessness, she stood, deciding she should call her horse. She wandered a ways away before whistling for him as loudly as she could, unsure of how far away he was. She repeated this three times, once to get his attention, once to call him, and once just to be safe, before hearing hoofbeats behind her. She greeted him pleasantly, scratching him between the eyes as she lead him back to camp.

Harir worked on picking up the blankets. There was nothing really left of the bird, and the fire was going out, so he worked on covering it with snow before putting their things back into the saddlebags and washed his face by the stream before heading over to where Sliet stood by the horse. "The next settlement is about a day away." He told her. He wasn't sure if that's where she intended to go or if she already knew about it though.
Piper and August had packed up pretty quick, August now seemed able to walk on his own, and Roy eventually came back up the ridge with Matvey fallowing behind. The four moved up to stand near the horse, and Roy let out a noise of objection as Mat went up to the animal and reached out a hand to touch it.

Sliet turned to grab the saddle, a small smile working its way onto her features despite her efforts, at the sight of stormflame turning slowly to sniff at the youngest boy. "Is that by horse or on foot?" She asked Harir quietly. She knew the direction she had to go, and several smaller landmarks nearby that could help her find their destination, but the territory up until that point was for the most part a mystery to her.

Matvey watched the horse as it moved out to sniff him before he gently reached up and stroked the sides of it's neck softly. After a few moment's he'd rested his forehead against the horse, his eyes shut peacefully for a moment before be drew back, still petting it carefully. Roy watched the boy with worry, scared the horse might react badly. The boy hadn't really been able to pet one of the captain's horses before- the one time he'd forgotten himself and tried to pet a friendly one in camp, he'd been kicked and beaten by the offended rider for slacking off on his duties.
Harir hesitated after glancing at the kid and deciding he probably wasn't going to do any harm. "Well, marching pace, so we could get there sooner, but with them, it'll be a day." He replied, assuming she was intending to let the kids tag along.

Sliet nodded approvingly to Harir, careful not to hit Matvey with the saddle as she loosely fastened it onto the horse. Stormflame wouldnt have to carry them roday, but he was still going to carry his own saddle.
She finnished up, making quick work of the bridle too before glancing around what was left of their camp to make sure they didn't forget anything important. Satisfied, she turned to the others. "Ready to go?" She asked generally, not addressing anyone in particular.
