Raven swallowed. "M-maybe. But maybe we shouldn't go back to the police until we know for sure." How would they find out? Ask the man who had tried to kill them? He considered there options for a moment, hoping Kail was right and the person really was just some deranged man, as awful as that was. He wasn't sure he wanted to go home tonight; he lived right next to the swamp and if the two had any connection, then he wasn't safe. He'd never felt that scared about walking on the streets; as long as he kept his head up and watched out for anyone who might have try to rob him, he'd been fine. If someone was after him in the side of town that he lived in though, it wouldn't be hard to someone to get away with killing him without being caught. He felt himself shaking again and tried to calm down. "We- we should make sure we're with someone else all the time.. or.. or... I don't know, armed or something?" He said meekly.

Kail nodded quickly. Hopefully nothing else would come up that should be brought to the police's attention. The last place he wanted to go back to was the station only to be mocked and then possibly attacked if they were connected. The only reason he had ever been afraid to walk the streets was because of the kids from school. He hadn't been afraid of anyone else attacking him until now. Now he wasn't really sure he wanted to leave the house until things were cleared up and things seemed okay.
Noticing that Raven had started to shake, he held a hand out to him, nodding as he mentioned staying with someone or being armed. There wasn't really anyone else he could stay with besides Raven. Sure there was his mother, but she had to go to work, and he couldn't drag Romayne out of school just so he could be safe. "D...did you want to stay here for the night?" he asked. His mother would be angry and upset about the fact she was having someone over, let alone another male. It wasn't like they were going to do anything, but he couldn't exactly just tell her that they had been suspended and then attacked on their way here after going to the police because they had found a body out in the swamp. He'd take the yelling though. He'd much rather Raven be safe and have someone around who made him feel safe than know his friend was going home to a house that was near the swamp.

Raven blinked at the offer. He'd never slept over at another's house before, was it really okay? The boy hesitated; he didn't want to go home, not now, and wandering the streets wasn't really any safer, but he felt bad that Kail might have to accommodate him. "A-are you sure that would be all right? I don't want to get you in trouble or something." He replied softly, finally siting next to the other on the couch as Kail reached out to him. He felt much better beside the brunet than alone with this going on; their attacker might still be looking for them, and the thought of that man finding his friend alone terrified him.

Kail nodded as Raven asked if it would be all right. "It's fine..." he told him. "It's probably safer to stay together than for you to go home..." he said as he chewed on his bottom lip. "Besides, you live all the way across town. Even if I walked home with you and came back it would still leave us alone afterwards...I don't want to call a taxi either..." Sure a taxi would probably be safe, but he didn't want to risk their attacker, or anyone associated with them, to actually be the taxi driver and take them out to the middle of no where where they wouldn't be able to get away. "It'll be fine. I'll just come up with an excuse if mum asks." And of course as soon as he mentioned the woman, she walked in through the door.
The brunet tensed, ready for her to start yelling at him for not having dinner ready and for having someone here. Thankfully she didn't noticed the two right away and walked to the kitchen. He wanted to stand up and suggest they go upstairs before she saw him, but it was too late as he heard her yell his name. Flinching, he pulled his sleeve down to cover the bandage on his arm. He looked up as she walked into the living room "Why isn't dinner ready?! And who is this?!" Kail shrugged a bit "I just got in... I had to stay late to talk to a teacher... And this is Raven..." he paused for a moment, trying to think of an excuse "He's here to work on homework and help me with another class."

Raven jumped at the sudden yelling, rather concerned by the anger Kail's mom was giving off. He tried to think of something, glancing at Kail as the other spoke and had an idea. He smiled sheepishly at the woman, giving a little wave but feeling like he was going to throw up inside. "Salut." He said happily, before glancing back to Kail after a moment's pause to let them speak. "Alors, où en étions-nous? Eh bien, il est correct si vous avez des problèmes, nous allons simplement essayer de nouveau. Hum, me parler de votre sujet favori à l'école, vos enseignants, ce que vous faites dans la classe de salle de classe." He rambled on, as if they had just been in the middle of something.
Hesitating, he glanced back to Kail's mother. "Eh, pardon- sorry, did you want us to stop for now?" He asked her softly, a bit of usually surpressed accent coming back to tinge his voice as he looked at the woman apologetically.

Kail had opened his mouth to apologize to his mother and rush to the kitchen in order to start dinner. He didn't even know what Raven liked to eat, even if he wanted to eat after everything they had gone through that day. He was surprised as Raven started rambling on in French. What was he even suppose to say? he had no idea what his friend was going on about, having taken no french classes in his life. But on one hand he supposed that he was glad that his mother didn't know any french either, and didn't know the classes he was taking. It was really the only thing that was saving them though.
He watched as his mother stared at the boy behind him, hoping that she would stay calm while Raven was around. He had never had anyone over so he wasn't really sure how she would treat him while someone else was in the house. "Just get dinner made," she said, directing it at her son before she headed upstairs. He let out a small sigh, his shoulders sagging a bit. He glanced at Raven "Sorry about that..." he apologized before he headed to the kitchen. "What do you like to eat?" he asked, figuring he'd at least cook something that his friend would eat too in case he was hungry. He was still confused about the sudden language switch, but he figured he'd question it later on when there wasn't a chance of his mum walking in on him asking Raven what that had been about.

Raven looked over at Kail quietly, feeling sad for the other as he looked visibly tense and upset from just interacting with his mother. "Y-you don't have to apologize, it's not you're fault.." He replied softly, glancing up as the other asked him about food. "O-oh. You don't have to feed me.. I.. Anything's fine. I-I don't really eat meat, but whatever is okay." He replied, stammering a little and not wanting to make Kail have to go out of his way to feed him something vegetarian. He tried to stay away from meats and dairy; he had a hard time eating it with knowing how much most animals suffered in factory farms, and even the whole knowing something else had gone through fear and death to feed him. He couldn't always avoid it though; there was rarely a lot of food at home and if the only meal he could get that day was a can of chicken soup, he would just have to deal with it at those times or he would starve, but he tried. He wasn't sure how hungry he felt after all that anyway, but he appreciated Kail's offer and kindness.

Kail wanted to point out that had he not been the cause of them getting lost last night then they wouldn't have found the body and they wouldn't of had to go through the swamp and they wouldn't of had to go to the police or get attacked or anything that had gone on which meant Raven wouldn't of had to listen to his mother yell at him. Kail nodded a little bit as his friend mentioned that he didn't eat meat. He was sure he could whip something up that didn't have any meat in it. His mother may not really appreciate it, neither would Romayne, but he wanted to make sure that Raven was comfortable being here. He already seemed nervous enough just being here without having to eat something he tried to stay away from. "That's no problem, don't worry about it," he said with a small smile. "No meat was taken out for dinner this morning anyway, and it would take to long to thaw." It really wouldn't take that long if he threw it in the microwave or something along those lines, but he didn't want to bother. "Is there anything else you don't eat?" he asked as he opened the cupboards to look around.

Raven shook his head. "N-no, really, anything is fine." He replied, feeling very gratefully but worried he was imposing. He didn't want Kail to feel like he had to cater to him. "I- can help cook, if you like?" He offered softly, wanting to help, or at least do something; he was getting a free meal after all. He hadn't cooked much at home, most of their food consisted of whatever cheap stuff his dad would scrap together at the grocery store; soup and easy things mostly. He's taken to trying to grow some vegetables out behind the house to cook, and had even planted an apple tree, but his father had gotten drunk and stumbled through the patch, crushing most of the crops before they could put out anything edible, and now the frost was here.

Kail waved a hand, as if dismissing him. "It's fine, Raven. I'm not going to expect you to eat something that you don't eat." He really wasn't too sure what to cook. Most of their meals consisted of meat, due to him taking whatever his mother wanted out in the mornings before he left. But it had been kind of hard to do when he was out lost in the woods with Raven. "Does a vegetable stir fry sound okay?" he asked, standing up from looking in the fridge. He shook his head a little bit and smiled as Raven offered to help cook "Don't worry about it. You're the guest, I don't expect you to help cook. It won't take that long to make."

Raven nodded as the other asked him about having a vegetable stir fry for supper. He'd never had that before, but he wasn't going to say no; he was just thankful Kail was willing to cook him food as well. "O-Of course." He replied. "Thank you, I-I really appreciate it," He added, but decided he should probably be quiet before he annoyed the other. He stood back, moving out of the way so Kail could cook, still willing to help if the other needed it.

The smell was wonderful; he hadn't eaten since yesterday and his stomach twisted with hunger at the thought and promise of food as he waited patiently. Thinking of how he could help, he went over and started setting the table so the other wouldn't have to worry about it.

When he was told that the stir fry would be okay, Kail grabbed the pan out from the cupboard before he started to grab vegetables out of the fridge. Grabbing a knife, he started to cut them up, throwing them into the frying pan after he was done. As he realized that Raven had started to set the table, he opened his mouth to tell him that it was okay but he didn't want to upset him or anything. He was sure that telling the other to stop setting the table wouldn't really upset him, but the boy had been through enough the past two days.

Once everything was cooked, he poured it into a bowl to set on the table, figuring he'd let everyone take as much as he wanted. He smiled at Raven "Thanks for setting the table."

Raven offered a sheepish smile back in Kail's direction. "T-thanks for supper." He replied, waiting for the others to come to the table before he sat down next to Kail. He noted the little brother and was pretty sure he'd seen him before at school, but wasn't sure of his name. He waited awkwardly to take his share last, not really taking that much of the stir fry at all. He didn't want to eat more than he was welcome, but he didn't want to be rude and not eat any of the food Kail had just worked on. What he ate tasted wonderful, especially were he was so hungry, he would have to mention it to Kail later, right now he felt a little too awkward with everyone present.

Once he had set the bowl down on the table, he called out to his younger brother and his mother that dinner was ready. "It's no problem," he said with a small smile. When his family came down to the table, he kept his gaze down to the table. He wasn't sure whether to introduce Raven to his brother and mother or not. His mother and friend had already met for a brief moment, and he was sure Romayne would have seen him around the school. He just hoped that his brother wouldn't open his mouth and mention if he had seen the two of them around the school together. He didn't want to go through the same thing he had gone through with Yuki after his brother had opened his big mouth.
Once everyone was done eating, he gathered up the dishes and took them to the sink. There was a little bit left, so he scooped it into a tupperware container and set it to the side for now. He was sure Romayne and his mother were unaware of the leftovers, so he'd give it to Raven later whenever he left. Putting the dishes in the sink, he filled it up with water before he started to wash the dishes.

Raven finished his pretty quickly, being careful to eat politely. When they were done, he watched Kail quietly for a moment before popping up beside his friend again to help dry he dishes, unsure of what else to do and not wanting to just stand idle.
"You're a really good chef." Raven told him sheepishly, trying to offer a smile.
He still felt worried about everything that had gone on today, but it wouldn't hurt to be positive at the moment, would it? Besides, Kail was going out of his way to look out for him.

Kail looked over at the dark haired male as he moved in to dry dishes. He returned the smile as Raven complimented his cooking "Thanks. I guess it helps when you cook everyday." He was thankful for the fact that he could cook. He had kind of gotten tired of hot dogs, fries, and easy things as it had been the only thing he could really cook when he was a bit younger.
He himself was still shaken up and nervous about their days experience, but he pushed it away in order to try and seem strong for Ravens sake. "Sorry about the awkward dinner though... my family arent exactly the most talkative or friendliest of people, especially mum. Romayne on the other hand normally never shuts up."

Raven shrugged, giving another hopeful look. "That's fine. It's kind of nice that you all eat together, I don't know." He said thoughtfully, he didn't know what it was like for Kail, and felt kind of bad that the other had to cook every night, but then at home His father just passed out everywhere and barely ever ate anything substantial. As his friend mentioned his bother's name he couldn't help but get a little distracted as the realization hit him. They're both named after lettuce. He couldn't really talk, his mother had been bad with english and had named him after a bird she liked the sound of, on top of that, it was generally only feminine. Still, he couldn't help giggling a little before smiling and covering his mouth with his hand as if nothing had happened. He wasn't really laughing at Kail, he just hadn't noticed it before and it was kind of cute that he'd been named after a cabbage, but he held his amusement back, not wanting to make the other feel bad if he took it the wrong way.

Kail shrugged a little bit "Its okay I guess. Dinners are normally quiet like it was tonight or mums going off about something." Pulling the water to let the water drain, Kail started to put away dishes that Raven had dried already. "Shes normally quieter when we have guests over. Its definitely a nice break." Or it would be until she found out he had gotten suspened. He figured bringing up the dead body wasnt a good idea. Noticing Raven giggling and covering his mouth, he raised an eyebrow before he realized his friend had probably realized both he and his brother had been named after vegetables. Kail smiled a little bit " My father was a strange man. I dont even know how he convinced mum to name us what they did," he said as he shook his head. "Romayne can get away with it more by going by Ro or Roman. Kail you cant really do anything with to shorten it. I dont mind though."

Raven felt immediately awful as the other caught on, wishing he hadn't laughed. On top of that, he caught Kail's words about how his father had been a strange man and swallowed; his friend's father was dead? Wow. Now he'd done it. Kail didn't seem upset, even smiling, but he wondered if Kail had been picked on about that before and if he'd made the other feel hurt. He put his hands up a little bit. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to laugh or be hurtful; I-I mean I'm named after a bird and a bad fan-fiction character, s-so.." As the other explained that he couldn't really shorten it, but didn't mind to much, Raven shrugged a little, offering a sheepish smile. "I-I think it's a really cute name, anyway." He explained, then wondered if he should have; was that a weird thing to say to a friend? He thought Kail was really wonderful in general, but he felt to awkward to say anything like that.

Kail smiled as he watched Raven seem to worry about what he had said or offending him or whatever else the other may have been thinking. "Raven it's fine. Honestly," he tried to reassure him. Maybe he shouldn't have brought it up if he was only going to make Raven feel bad for having laughed at the whole name thing. It really was okay though, he didn't mind. "It's actually one thing that I wasn't bullied about. I think most of the bullies are a little too stupid to realize the connection. No one really comments on it." He blinked a little bit as Raven told him he thought the name was cute. He smiled "Raven's a cute name too. It suits you."

Raven listened to him quietly, glad he hadn't been upset about the laughter and nodded a little, though feeling bad that the other was bullied at all. Kail didn't seem like someone annoying or even really that odd, and Kail of all people didn't really deserve to be picked on. He remembered the first day they'd met; it had looked like someone had tried to actually kill him, and it made him feel a little sick. As the other replied about his name, he smiled a little back, feeling sort of embarassed at the compliment. "T-thanks." He stammered, his voice awkwardly weak.

Kail took an awkward step back as he realized that maybe he should have just thanked the other for the compliment on his name and not have returned it. "I...I'm sorry..." he apologized, raising his hands up. He hadn't meant to make him feel awkward or something. Finishing putting the dishes away, he chewed on the inside of his cheek "Feel free to help yourself to anything in the house," he said, trying to change the subject before things got more awkward. "I'll uh... set up the air mattress here soon in case you wanted to go to bed early...."

Raven blinked, startled by the apology. "H-hey, you don't have to say sorry, you just complimented me." He said softly, feeling like he was being way too awkward. As the other went back to the dishes, he looked down quietly, nodding in quiet thanks as the other spoke, then hesitated; maybe they could do something to get rid of the stress; play a game or something. That's what friends did at sleep overs, right? It was kind of a rough, terrifying day, but thinking about it non-stop wasn't going to make things any better for either of them. Maybe it had just been a crazy man on the street. "W-well, since we're spending the night together, maybe we could do something, I don't know." He suggested, trying to smile a little.

Kail shrugged a little bit as Raven told him that he didn't have to apologize for complimenting him "I... I didn't mean to make it awkward or anything though..." he said after a moment. He really hadn't meant to make it awkward. The last thing he wanted to do was push Raven away after everything they had already gone through the past few days and especially because he was his only friend. He closed the last cupboard door as Raven suggested doing something. He returned the small smile, nodding a bit "We uh... we have a few board games I think downstairs... Romayne has a few gaming consoles set up downstairs..." He wasn't really sure how his brother would react to them using them, but it was worth the risk. He just really wanted to relax and wind down after being chased and getting lost last night, finding the body today and then being attacked. He wasn't sure he could deal with much more right now besides just sitting around. And he at least knew his brother wouldn't pick a fight with him while someone else was over. He was generally a pretty quiet kid until he got to know a person. "There's a little TV in my room we could watch movies on, or we could watch movies downstairs on the bigger tv...Whatever you wanna do."

He felt a little relief as Kail smiled, glad the other was up for something. "O-okay, well, I don't know? A movie sounds great." He replied, returning the smile and shifting on his feet nervously. He still felt a little uncertain about being enclosed in someone else's house, especially when it was this nice compared to the rotting walls, lack of lighting and half pried floors he was used to. He felt a little better around Kail; the other had done his best to make him welcome or anything; he was still just worried in the back of his mind about messing up or embarrassing himself in front of his friend.
