(alrighty then, so this is an attempt at the modern day one, just to see where it goes.)
(Nurse's office, since that's kind of ER-ish)

Raven kept himself busy in the Nurse's office at school. It wasn't much of a job, and he wasn't getting paid, but it counted towards his grades and experience, and he sort of enjoyed spending his lunch hours here in relative quiet of the clean white office. He spent most of his time stocking medical supplies and working on homework on the pale tiled floors when he wasn't busy. The nurse, a middle-aged, grumpy man who hadn't finished medical school, spent most of his time drinking coffee and wondering how he'd managed to wind up back in a high school for the rest of his career. He was patient and pretty laid back, and they didn't talk much, but Raven was fine with that. He got to read huge, university level texts in wonderful silence. Where another might be bored by the drawn out hours, with only the ticking clock for company, he felt calm here.
In terms of actually learning on the job- he'd patched up a few small injuries from accidents, and dealt with a couple sick kids whose parents had forced them in. He had been a little disappointed at his lack of usefulness, but at the same time, he had supposed it was good that there weren't any major injuries going on.
At least not until now. He got up quickly from his reading and set it aside as another student was brought in.
From how the nurse was acting, it wasn't the usual scraped knee or broken toe, and he felt his heart pound with worry, walking over to the small seating area to see what was going on so he could help.

Certainlynotmoreburcab no never Empty Re: Certainlynotmoreburcab no never

Post by FictionalPieces Mon May 11, 2015 9:23 pm

For as long as he could remember, Kail had always been the odd one out. After kids started picking on him in elementary school, he had tried so hard to fight in but it really only made it worse.
He was only seven or eight when his father passed away, leaving behind his mother, himself and his younger brother. Things went on okay for a while before they started to fall apart. His mother often returned home from work only to start yelling at him for not having dinner ready, even if he had only just walked in the door before her. She found the smallest of things to yell at him for, and there was nothing he could do about it.
The year after he had met his best friend and things actually had started to look up for once. It didn't really last long though. It didn't take the brunet long to realize that he had started to develop feelings for his best friend. But he couldn't admit it, not even to himself. His whole family had been, and still were, extremely religious. He had been taught growing up that liking someone of the same sex was wrong. Plus it would only give the kids at school more to tease him about. When he finally told Yuki, he was surprised to have the feelings returned. Kail shared his worries about the whole thing, though Yuki promised that it could be kept a secret. It lasted a few years before some kid had found out and spread it across the whole school. His brother had found out, and before he had a chance to stop him from telling their mother, his mother had found out.
Forbidden from seeing his best friend, the family moved so Kail would have to get a drive to and from school, which gave him no time to stick around and talk to the boy.
This lasted a year or two before his mother no longer had to worry. Kail and Yuki had made plans to meet up during the school day. His brother was gone for the day, so he didn't have to worry about him. He had been headed to their meeting spot when he heard shouting. Picking up the pace, he had raced to their spot only to find a few older kids beating on his friend. He hadn't found out until later that he had only gotten into the fight because Yuki had been trying to stop some kids from talking bad about Kail. At that point it had been to late to thank him. By the time the kids stopped and Kail had been able to call someone; he had been to afraid to during the time in fear the kids would turn on him, it was to late for Yuki. From there on out he was alone again.
The brunet had tried to go through the rest of his school career quietly without being noticed or giving the other students a chance to pick on him. Though it didn't work out in his favor. He wouldn't have been surprised if the whole school knew it didn't take much to make him cry. It really gave anyone, even the younger kids, a chance to pick on him.

At this point, Kail didn't even remember how the fight had started. If you could even call it that. He remembered one kid asking him if he would help him with something. He remembered following him to a wing of the school that wasn't really used anymore, a bad feeling settling in his stomach. He had asked the kid what they were doing, to which he was told a teacher had asked him to bring some old materials from one of the rooms. As soon as he was in the room, the door closed and locked with a click before he remembered ending up on the ground with a bloody nose. After that everything was a blur and now he was being dragged to the nurses office. He couldn't tell if anything was broken  because his whole body was in agony. His left eye felt swollen, and it was definitely hard to see out of. It hurt to breath, or to move in general. His body stung in a few places. Had one of the kids had a knife? He couldn't remember. All he could taste or smell was blood.  His right leg hurt to walk on and he over all felt like he was dying.
Thankful to be sat in the chair, he tried to focus his vision to survey how much damage he had received. Hearing footsteps, he glanced up a little to quick, sucking in a breath, which only caused more pain.

Certainlynotmoreburcab no never Empty Re: Certainlynotmoreburcab no never

Post by Deathcap Mon May 11, 2015 10:08 pm

Raven's eyes widened in alarm as he saw the boy being brought in and sat down by another teacher. He could smell the blood in the air, and his first thought was that the other had been hit by a car, but in the few seconds it took to take in the other's damaged form, he realized the other's injuries were too localized - other kids had done this to him. He felt his stomach flip. If the boy had gotten into a fight, than whoever had been on the other end had beat him down and kept on going to the point where they could have killed him.
"I-I'll call an ambulance?" He started as he took a step back, addressing the nurse, but the other shook his head. "No, you wont, it's was just a fight- we'll get him patched up and sent home. Stay here with him while I get ice." The man told him before exciting the office.
Raven only felt more alarmed by the other's reaction, but tried to swallow his worry. It wouldn't be any good to panic, for him or the brunet... but how could the nurse tell by a quick look whether the boy was in serious danger or not?
He got a cloth and held it beneath the tap, letting the cold water soak into his before he quickly wrung it out, and hurried over to the boy on the Chair.
"H-hey. It's going to be alright." He spoke gently, trying to give the other breathing room. Was he supposed to stick to protocol in a situation like this? He didn't feel like asking if the boy was in pain and where he felt it was a relevant question. "Just hold this to your eye, okay? Lay down if you want, the Nurse just went to go get some ice." He told the other softly, pressing the cloth into the other's hand. The closer he got, the worse the other looked, and he felt another pang of worry. He went and got some sterile cloths and came back, going next to the other.
"I'm going to try to clean you up a bit- so we can put some bandages on you. Is that alright?" He asked, not going to push the other after everything he had just gone through. He didn't want to make the other feel any worse.

Certainlynotmoreburcab no never Empty Re: Certainlynotmoreburcab no never

Post by FictionalPieces Tue May 19, 2015 9:55 pm

Just barely conscious, the brunet heard a few garbled voices. One mentioned something about calling something or someone while the other mentioned just sending him home. Or at least that's what he was sure he heard. He wanted to speak up, to let whoever was in the room know that he had no way of getting home. His mother was at work and would refuse to come pick him up. Now had it been his little brother that would be a completely different story. She'd rush to come and get him, taking a few days off to stay home and take care of him. He wasn't sure if it was just because his brother was the youngest or if she just didn't care. He really felt like it was the last though. She never really had seemed to care for him. Maybe it was because he was mistrusting of the banks.(Modern day Birdiecabbage? More bank jokes!!)
Blinking his eyes open what seemed like hours later, he watched the boy in front of him as he spoke, just barely making out what was being said. He nodded a little bit and had moved to lay down before he hesitated. He didn't want to get blood all over the place. He was sure it had happened, and he wasn't to sure exactly how much he was bleeding. Was he even bleeding anymore? Finally laying down, he carefully held the wet cloth to his eye. Once he was able to get at least comfortable enough so his body wasn't in extreme pain, he allowed both of his eyes to clothes. Maybe he could just sleep this all off...
When the other returned from wherever he had gone, he nodded slightly. He opened his mouth to say something, but hesitate. What even was there to say really? He could thank the other, he could try and tell him who had done this or even ask a stupid question. At least he didn't have to worry to much about stupid or embarrassing things being said. The nurse seemed to be taking forever to return, and he was sure that if he was going to bleed out or something it would happen before he got back. He turned his attention to the dark haired boy, a question popping into his head. "I..I'm not getting... Blood all.. All over the place... Am I?" he muttered. He didn't want to make a mess for anyone to clean up later.

Raven took a breath as the other nodded, glancing and hoping for the nurse to return. The longer he looked at the other, the more worried he felt. He was at least glad the boy had laid down and put the cloth to his eye; at least he could understand him. He knelt down next to the couch, but the other was so roughed up he wasn't sure where to start. He reached forward to pull the other's sleeve back, but hesitated as the other spoke.
God, the poor guy, all beaten up and he was worried more about if he was messing up the couch.
He shook his head, trying to reassure the other. "N-no, it's fine, don't worry about it. Just try to relax, alright? It might sting a little." He said softly.
The boy pulled back the cloth, and bit his lip as the cut on the other's arm became apparent. He tried to be as gentle as possible as he wiped it, and the other gashes on his arms, side, face and leg clean and patched them each carefully with gauze and a bandage. He felt a little sick that someone had done this to the other boy. He was just relieved that the brunet seemed like he would be alright for the most part. "What's your name?" He asked the other quietly. "Is there someone that would be able to drive you home?" He wasn't sure where the nurse had gone, but he figured it would be best to keep the other talking and awake encase he had a concussion or something. He glanced out the office door, and the nurse was there, ice in hand, but talking quietly with a teacher, so he walked back to the injured boy.

Kail kept his eyes closed as he held the cold cloth to the eye. Feeling the boy start to pull his sleeve back, Kail carefully switched hands to hold the cloth. He stayed in silence before he was told not to worry. He knew it was something stupid to worry over, getting a couch dirty when he had just gotten beaten up, but he couldnt help it. Neither the nurse or the boy would likely yell at him for getting blood on the couch, he would have much rather just not even give them the chance.
He nodded slightly before sucking in a sharp breathe as the boy started to clean up his wounds. When it was done, he opened up one of his eyes to glance over at him "Kail..." he replied when asked his name. "I dont have anyone to drive me home though..." he said quietly. "My mothers at work and wont leave to come and get me..." Even if she would come pick him up, he didnt want to face her anyway. She'd just go on to yell and teĺ him that it was his own fault.

Raven nodded as the other told him his name. "Enoby dementia dark'ness Raven.way" He replied softly. The boy felt a pang of worry when the other mentioned that his mother wouldn't come to drive him home. Even after he'd been hurt like this? Then again, his dad would have been the same way; he didn't really ask the other for help anymore. He gave another nod of understanding, but felt uncertain of what to do. It probably wasn't a good idea for the boy to walk home alone like this, especially if whoever had attacked him might still be around. The nurse took a carpool, and his father's car had broken down a month ago, so it wasn't really an option anyway.
"Well, school's almost over- if you wait here for a bit, I can walk you home- I- I walk anyway and I'm not busy, so..." He told the other awkwardly. He  didn't want to creep the other out- he wasn't really sure if that was a weird offer or not. He was just kind of worried for the other.

The brunet nodded a bit as he was told the others name. He hadnt even known that the other attended the school. He supposed it was nice to meet the other boy, but it probably would have been better if it hadnt been due to him getting the shit beat out of him.
Kail wasnt necessarily looking forward to the walk home. Sure the kids may be gone before he left, but he wouldnt put it past them to stick around only to carry on and finish what they had started. Hearing the offer, the boy blinked and looked towards him, surprised he would evem offer. "Y...you dont have to..." he replied, shaking his head a bit. If the bullies had stuck around, he really wouldnt put it past them to start picking on Raven as well. He didnt want to have to put him through that. "If they see you eith me, if they've stuck around, they'll go after you too..."

Raven tried to give a small smile, but he still felt too worried about this whole thing to be jovial. He nodded a little as the other mentioned the kids that had gone after him. The boy wasn't that much of a social butterfly, and kept his head down, so no one really knew him or how timid he actually was. All anyone seemed to know about him was his dad and the rumors surrounding his small, decrepit family, so aside from a bit of long distance torment that went on he was really just left alone, so if something happened, he didn't really have anyone to fall back on, but he didn't really feel too worried. And besides, what was important was that this other got home okay so he could be somewhere safe. "That's okay. I really don't mind. I'm sure it'll be okay." He replied to the other. The nurse returned with the ice, and after giving it to Kail, he went back to discussing things with the teacher.

When the last bell rung, Raven got together his threadbare bag and books, slinging it carefully over his shoulder, and went over to help Kail up encase the other needed it. "Are you okay to go?" He asked.

Kail waited in silence after he had told the other what was likely to happen if the kids saw them together. He frowned a tiny bit, though it hurt, before he let out a sigh. He wasnt going to fight. He didnt have the energy to argue. He just hoped for the other's sake that the kids would be gone by the time they were able to get out of the school. When the ice was passed to him, he mumbled a thank you before switching the cloth out for the ice. He wasnt to sure how much longer the school day was going to last, but he hoped it wasnt that long.

Hearing the final bell ring, Kail blinked his eyes open after having startrd to drift off to sleep. He was hoping that Raven forgot about having offered to walk him home. He was sure the boy could hold his own, but he still didnt want the other kids going after him just because he was helping him home.
Unfortunately the other came over and asked if he was okay to go. He carefully satup and nodded "Oh yeah I'm fine," he replied, trying to push the small amount of dizziness he felt away. "You really dont have to go eith me though.... I wouldnt want you to go out of your way..."

"Don't worry about it, it's really no problem." Raven smiled back at the other reassuringly, glad he was alright to walk; it made things a lot easier for both of them. As for going out of his way, he wouldn't be going straight home or anywhere in particular anyway. It was the last place he wanted to be until he father was passed out. Normally he stayed around after school, or if the weather wasn't to bad, he would find a quiet place and read or get school work done, or some days he worked in his uncle's old store, but he didn't really have anything planned anyway.
As they left the school, he kept an eye out just encase the kids Kail had mentioned did decide to bother them. He stayed close to the other as they started to head away from the school building, there if the other stumbled or something did happen. He started to feel a little worried- one of the kids had a knife judging by what they'd done to kail. Then again, he had his house key, swiss army knife, and over 10 different scalpels in an old surgeon's kit one of his (supposedly) great grandparents had owned in the war. -He'd brought it in for a history project, but liked to admire the old thing so much he had kept it with him instead of leaving it back in the house where it was liable to get ruined anyway in one of his father's drunken gallivants.

"Are you sure?" he asked softly, his brow furrowing a bit. He wasnt to sure what the other did after school but he didnt want to take to much time away from the other. The walk to his house was quite a ways away. After Yuki had passed away his mother hadnt bothered to move back so her sons could be closer to school. She had stopped driving them, leaving Kail to make sure his brother made it to school as well. "It's quite a ways away... I should be fine to go myself..." He still was mainly worried about the kids seeing them and deciding to go after Raven as well. He'd feel horrible if something happened to the other, even though he barely knew him. He had already had one friend be taken away from him, and while he wasnt sure that Raven even wanted to be friends with him after he was dropped off at home.
As they started away from the school, it took most of Kail's energy to stay standing. It wasnt like he felt he was going to pass out, he was still just sore from the whole ordeal. He glanced over at the dark haired boy "Thanks for all the help..."

"I can leave if you want me to, but I'm not busy or anything... I just kind of wander after school, explore, do homework and stuff- there's not much at home." He admitted sheepishly, then wondered if he should have. "S-so I don't mind having someone to talk to or anything, and, yeah.." He trailed off uncertainly, looking at the ground as they walked. He made sure to keep pace with the other so Kail wasn't rushing on his injured leg. He didn't want the other to have to deal with anymore pain than necessary. "Besides, I'd feel bad if you had to walk home alone after all that..." He added after a moment, looking back up at the brunet. The other seemed to be struggling, and he was willing to help the other walk, but didn't want to make the other uncomfortable.
He shook his head as the other thanked him. "It's fine, I don't mind." He replied, trying to smile again, but then looked ahead, his expression falling. "If... If you don't mind me asking, do you know why those kids attacked you? I-If it was one sided, then you could report it; you seem like you're going to be okay, but if some of your injuries had been any worse... we might've actually had to take you to the hospital." He spoke softly. He didn't want to upset the other, he was just frustrated by what had been done to the boy. Kail seemed nice enough, and from what he could tell it had been an assault rather than a two sided fight.

"I just don't want you to go out of your way..." he replied with a small shrug. Even if Raven had nothing to really do after school, he was sure that the other would have much rather done any of the things he had mentioned than walk some kid home. Sure he had offered, and if he had offered he probably had wanted to do it, but he may have just been doing it out of the kindness of his heart; Kail wasn't to sure what it was right yet. The brunet was glad that the other had kept his pace slow. He wouldn't have cared if Raven had walked off and left him, but it was nice to know, or assumed, that the other cared. He glanced over at the other, shrugging a shoulder "It wouldn't be the first time I've walked home beat up..." he admitted quietly.
Kail had been about to return the small smile, though he stopped as Raven looked ahead, the smile leaving his face. He tilted his head a bit, as far as his neck would allow him to without protest, as he was questioned. The male looked forward towards the ground "I don't know..." he muttered. "It's been going on for a while... It's just never been this bad..." Of course it had been this bad at one point, it just hadn't been directed towards him. It had still been his fault in the first place. That's what he thought anyway. "It's not big deal though... It'll probably only get worse if I report it or something..."

Certainlynotmoreburcab no never Empty Re: Certainlynotmoreburcab no never

Post by Deathcap Wed May 27, 2015 8:30 pm

Raven stayed quiet as the other spoke, feeling sorry for the Brunet. This was a usual thing for him? He hesitated as the other told him reporting it would make it worse. In a lot of cases that was what the people hurting you wanted you to think, but other times it was true. If Kail was getting hurt beaten like this often, then it was unlikely he had a lot of friends who would back him up, if any, so if he was isolated like that, it was a lot harder to get help. He could report it to the school, and the kids might get a suspension or punishment, but they would know why, and would be back in a week or in Kail's neighborhood, and if it was a continual thing with a lot of kids, even getting one or two of them expelled in a small city like this was unlikely and wouldn't do much long term anyway. The other wasn't wrong to feel trapped. Then again, is if this continued, the other would be continually suffering, and something much more serious might happen. He wanted to tell the other it was a big deal- to talk to a counselor or get help before it got worse, but he knew it wasn't always that easy.
It'd been chance that he'd met the other in this situation, and he knew it wasn't really his business, but he wanted to do something to help; he felt like if he walked away from the whole thing after today, he might be leaving the other for dead.
After a few minuets of thinking he glanced up at the other. "I-if you want, we could hang out together at lunch and stuff, in the nurse's office or something-" Raven offered sheepishly. "If you're with a friend o-or other students, they won't be so brave." He explained hesitantly. He didn't really socialize with the other students a lot- he was usually much too nervous to approach people- so the whole idea of spending time with another like that kind of frightened him, but if it would help Kail get out of this, he could get over it.

Certainlynotmoreburcab no never Empty Re: Certainlynotmoreburcab no never

Post by FictionalPieces Mon Jun 01, 2015 9:29 pm

Kail carefully chewed on the Inside of his cheek as he walked in silence next to Raven. He hadn't meant to drag the boy into his problems, but that's way it seemed like he was doing. It was nice to think someone cared about him enough to worry, but he couldn't help but think it wouldn't last. Anytime something good came along it didn't last, it never did regardless of what it was. Kail kept his gaze down towards the ground as he limped along, not sure what to say about the matter of the bullying. He knew the dark haired boy was right on one hand. He should report it and get it dealt with now before he ended up severly injured in the hospital. But he knew it wouldn't stop. If anything it really would make things worse. The kids normally didn't bother him outside of school or off the school grounds, but he had a feeling that wouldn't be the case if he reported everythin that had happened.
As the silence grew, Kail debated on opening his mouth to say something to break the silence, but Raven had already beat him to it. The brunet blinked at the unsuspected offer. The other was really willing to put himself on the line for the small chance that the bullies would stop coming after him?
Staying silent for a few moments, Kail finally glanced over at Raven "I...I appreciate the offer.." he started softly. "But I don't want you to be dragged into this too... It's risky enough you walking me home..." he said as he chewed on his bottom lip. Not wanting to seem like he was pushing Raven away or that he didn't want the other around or whatever he may be thinking, he glanced down.
"I mean... If you don't mind me hanging around... I just don't want someone else hurt because of me..."

((short post is short I'm sorry))

Certainlynotmoreburcab no never Empty Re: Certainlynotmoreburcab no never

As the other agreed to hang out, Raven nodded, giving a small smile. “Yeah- sure, it's really fine.” Raven told the other, quiet as they reached the boy's house. “So- I-I'll see you tomorrow then. I hope you feel better.” He added softly, waving a little awkwardly as he backed up and then turned to head home. He felt kind of odd- he was a little nervous about the whole thing, but he was sure it would be alright; Kail seemed pretty nice anyway, and it was only for lunch, and he didn't really mind the other, as anxious as he was around people.
-----
Raven reached his classes a bit late the next morning, the half-hour walk hadn't been so easy after last night. He'd gotten home a little after dark to find his father extremely drunk but he hadn't yet found a place on the sofa or floor to pass out. The man had been furious, and as much as Raven had tried to avoid a conflict and find a place alone, it'd been the same as most nights. He walked to the back of the class where he would be ignored and sat down sorely, fixing his sweater to make sure it would cover his battered arms and neck. The boy rested with his head down in his arms for a moment, taking a tired breath while he waited for teacher to start. His thoughts straying, he remembered his promise to Kail, and wondered where he would find the other.
When lunch rolled around, he felt more alert, but his body was really starting to ache. Trying to ignore it, he searched around for the Brunet hopefully.

BUT GRAPHIC NOVELS IS DONE BLESS))

Kail nodded a little bit as the other told him it was fine. He still didn't want to bother the other, even if he had said that it was okay. He didn't mind the bullies picking on him so much. He was use to it and it wasn't to big of a deal. He just didn't want the other to get pulled into it something that he wasn't a part of to begin with. He waved a little bit as the other did "I'll see you tomorrow..." he muttered. He took a small breath before he finished the walk home. It was slow going, but he had finally made it home in time before his mother and brother got home.

-------

Though he had been up in time, Kail had left the house a little later than normal. He had left but only waited until his mother had left. The brunt knew that his mother would be furious that he hadn't left yet, and that was the last thing he needed. When he finally did leave, he took his time to get to school. If school had gone in, then there would be less of a chance of running into the bullies or anyone. Unless of course they had stayed behind too to wait for him.
As lunch time came, Kail left his class a few moments after the bell had rung. While it may have been smarter to leave when everyone else left so there were more people in the hallway and the bullies were less likely to bother him. Unless of course they were past the point of hiding it from everyone else.
Making his way towards the nurses office, figuring that the other wanted to meet him there instead of searching around the school, he chewed on his bottom lip as he looked around for the other.

Raven eventually noticed the other, standing by the nurse's office, and made his way over, hoping he hadn't kept the other too long. "Hey." He said, giving a small wave. "How are you feeling?" He asked, coming to stand next to the other. He glanced down, digging in his pack for the keys to the office- the nurse wasn't there at the moment but he was allowed inside to do his coursework. Raven pushed open the door and flicked on the lights. He glanced back at the other awkwardly. "Uh- you can just sit wherever. Or we can go somewhere else if you want." He told the other, setting his finished work down.
He felt bad for not being more interesting, but other than somewhere safe to hang out, he didn't have much to offer at the moment.

The brunet looked over as he heard a voice, almost flinching before he realized that it was Raven. He smiled faintly, waving back. "A little sore but living I guess," he said with a small shrug. As Raven pulled the key out of his backpack, he glanced around nervously. He chewed on the inside of his cheek before the other finally opened the door and talk to him. He nodded a bit as he followed him inside.

After spending the lunch with the dark haired male, Kail had started to relax a little bit. He still worried about the bullies coming in through the door and beating on him regarldess of if he was with someone or not. When the bell rang to signal the end of lunch, Kail took a deep breath and held it for a moment. He stood up and stretched "What class do you have next?" he asked quietly, glancing over at the other. He figured that if their classes were close by they could walk together; If Raven wanted to that was.

Raven was quiet most of the time, not really sure what to say to the other. He didn't have much to talk about that he felt the other would be interested in, so he just kind of kept his mouth shut. When the bell rang, he got up and looked over as Kail asked him what class he had. "Oh, English, upstairs." He replied, pulling his pack back on and heading to the door. "You?" He liked english, a little more than all his homework-loaded classes. It gave him an excuse to buy books and to take time to sit down and read.

Kail blinked a little bit as the other told him that he had English. While he didn't pay that much attention to those around him, he thought that he would have noticed the other in the class. Picking up his own backpack, he followed Raven out the door, waiting for him in case he had to close the door or something. "I have English too," he told him, chewing on the inside of his cheek. "D...did you want to talk together? Or do you have to go somewhere else first?" he asked quietly, glancing away after he had finished speaking.

Raven locked the door behind Kail and glanced up in surprise. "Oh- I didn't even know we were in the same class, sorry." He laughed a little at the realization, puzzled that he hadn't seen the other before, or at least made the connection. As the other asked if they could walk together, he nodded, smiling. "Yeah- sure, I don't see why not." Raven replied, starting to head down the hall. While it was kind of silly to feel that way over such a small thing, he felt kind of happy that the other wanted to walk together. While Kail hadn't really needed to ask, at least he knew the other didn't dislike him or want to get away from him because of the awkwardness. Then again, Kail might want to walk with him because he was scared of being ambushed again. The happiness was gone as he he felt more worried for the other than anything.

When they reached the classroom he went to sit down. He was only a few seats away from the other and was kind of confused again as to how he'd missed the other when they were sitting that close together. As the teacher spoke up and the second bell went, he listened quietly. They went on for most of the class discussing the shakespeare the class had been reading before announcing a project. It was due in a few weeks and mandatory to be with a partner. Oh god. Why couldn't he just work alone? Every partner he had been stuck with before had been the kid who was left out because they didn't work or didn't show up, or someone who he was paired with by the teacher who desperately wanted to get away from the disappointingly shy kid and work with their friends instead.
He remembered Kail, and wondered if the other would want to work together. At the same time, he wondered if it would be pushy to ask, especially after they'd already hung out around each other the whole time since meeting. The boy glanced over hesitantly to see if the brunet already had a partner as the class ended.

Kail smiled a bit "Don't be sorry, I didn't know before now either," he told the other. It was good to know that he knew at least one person in the class now. And unless he did something stupid, he knew that the other wouldn't turn on him and beat him up like any of the other kids in the class. He just had to keep from doing anything to push the other away. It was nice to know that he had a friend again.
When the other agreed to walk with him, Kail smiled over at him as he walked next to him. After a moment, he glanced over, tempted to tell the other that it was okay for him to tell him to leave if he was bothering him or he didn't want him around.

Kail walked int othe classroom behind Raven, watching where the other went to sit. Seeing that he sat not that far from him, Kail sat down at his own seat. He turned his attention to the teacher as the teacher started to talk. As the project was brought up,Kail frowned a bit. None of the other kids would want to partner up with him and he knew it. Remembering that Raven was in the class as class came to an end, he glanced over at the other as everyone stood up and started to leave. Slinging one of his bookbag's straps over his shoulder, he walked over to the other. "Uh... did you want to be partners?" he asked softly. "I mean, if you didn't want to pair up with someone else..."

As the other approached him, he nodded, a little surprised as the other asked, him and then seemed to doubt whether it was okay or not to ask, sort of relieved the other wanted to rather than him having to ask Kail. "No, no, it's fine. I don't know anyone else in here anyway, so.." He tried not to sound too desperate, but he was glad to work with the other. "Did you want to work on it after school somewhere? If you're busy or have something to do we can wait though." He added awkwardly as he picked up his books. He suddenly regretted that. While he wasn't busy, he was kind of worried the other would take that as an offer to go to his house to work. He couldn't really ask to work at Kail's house instead, but he would be pretty embarrassed if they went to his home. It was a slew of unused, overgrown farmland for starters, with rusted, antique machinery lying in the old fields, not to mention the house was falling apart, with boarded up windows, rotting walls, and liquor bottles strewn around by his father. Not to mention the man himself. If he was mildly sober, he would be loud, aggressive and uncensored, until he got drunk enough to start breaking glass, wandering around, hitting walls or just as likely them. He swallowed, lost in thought for a second before glancing back up to Kail, waiting for an answer.
