Sliet sighed when Raven didn't respond. He was breathing, that much she could tell, and he had survived far worse than this. She placed her gun back in it's holster, pushing herself off of the horse almost lazily, pulling some rope out of her pack, and walking after Marcel. she knelt over him once he had stopped, pulling his arms behind him and tying his wrists together securely. She was really sick of being on the road. She was sick of traveling, of being separated from the others, and this wasn't improving her opinion very much.
Once she had finished with her knots, she stopped to think for a moment, trying to remember what kat had taught her about manipulating a persons emotional state, having some difficulty. It had been a long time ago, and she'd never been particularly good at it, not for lack of trying on Katherine's part. For now though, she just had to calm this kid down.

Marcel tensed as he heard the other approach, tensing and waiting for the shot, only to jerk in panic and struggle briefly as she grabbed his arms and started tying him. "Wha-What are you doing?" He demanded, though his voice was more strained at this point than commanding. He tried to turn to look at her or turn but it just put more pressure on his wounds and he relented, breathing quickly as he decided to hold still.

"Tying you up. I thought that was pretty obvious." She half growled, lacking patience for the former lieutenant. She tried to pull him over onto his back insistently, looking him over and trying to locate all of his injuries. "Where all are you hurt?" She asked him, somewhat bitterly.

Marcel winced as she turned him over, hesitating but coming to the conclusion he was no longer in a position to argue. He wasn't sure what she planned to do, but maybe she'd be less cruel if he cooperated and made things easier for her. "I- I don't know, I got shot, in my right leg, above the knee, and... and my ribs on my left side and my chest and shoulder... The horse, too, he got grazed on his neck and shoulder." He added hesitantly. He didn't know if she cared, but it was worth noting if she knew and could help the animal before it got infected. "He's a good horse, don't hurt him cuz he's ours." He requested with concern in his voice, not really certain about her intentions for the gelding.

Sliet looked down at the other, rather offended that he would even suggest that she would hurt her old friend. She listened as he listed off his injuries, looking over at the horse worriedly contemplating going to help stormflame first, but if she were to do that, marcel might be dead by the time she got back. She turned back to the soldier on the ground before her, resting her hands near the wound in his abdomen first, less gentle than usual, not as motivated to make the process as painless as possible.

Marcel jerked in alarm as she put her hands on him, wincing. Was she trying to stop the bleeding? He felt an uncomfortable sensation and couldn't help squirming, but not really able to do anything about it with his hands tied behind his back.

Raven let out a groan, trying to pick himself up as he came to, getting his hands underneath him before nearly tipping over, disoriented. He looked around, alarm, and noted the two on the ground, blinking as his vision adjusted again. He felt relief that Sliet had it under control, and sat back dizzily. "You two faced piece of dog shit! See if I ever give you another hug, you assssss" He tried to yell at the boy, not in control enough to do anything but sit, his words slurred as he held the back of his head.

Sliet looked up when she heard raven, moving onto marcel's chest wound. "Shut the hell up and lay the fuck back down." She half snapped at the boy before focusing again on the task at hand. "goddamn potty mouth." she muttered, finishing up. Deciding it was best not to heal the wound in the others leg. Hopefully he would be less likely to run off that way. Finished, she pushed herself to her feet, wiping the blood off on her pants.

Raven blinked at the other before doing as she said, laying flat on his belly again. He kept his hand to the sharp pain in his head as stars continued to dart around his vision and he felt nausea twist in his stomach.

Marcel watched Sliet in bewilderment as he felt the pain fade. He wasn't sure if he was loosing it or passing out in intervals but somehow she'd healed him. Maybe she really was a ghost? He tried to sit up, not sure he could stand again, and felt defeated at this point in terms of trying to get away.

"you stay down too" she growled at Marcel, before returning to the other boy.
how bad is it?" she asked softly, kneeling beside raven. Sliet wasn't very good with head wounds. never had been, but she could try at the very least,

Raven glanced at the other from the ground, not moving from the spot until he was sure she wasn't going to get upset again. "I'm alright...just a bruise I think..M-maybe a concussion- I'm not sure." He answered seriously, moving his hand away so she could see and wincing slightly. "No worse than when you hit me." He added, not with any anger, just as a point of reference.

Sliet frowned as she was compared to the soldier, but didn't voice her indignancy. "Get on the horse. We're going back. " she told him, trying not to seem angry, getting up to heal stormflame quickly, careful not to hurt him.

Raven got up unsteadily as she told him to pushing himself onto his knees and then stumbling up, walking over to the horse and waiting while Sliet healed the animal. He cast a glance back at Marcel, before looking back at Stormflame and reaching up to pet the horse's cheek gently. When she was done, he tried to let the other know what he was doing as he climbed carefully into the Saddle.
The boy felt dizzy suddenly as he looked down and realized how far off of the ground he was as the animal shifted under him. The boy tried not to cling too fearfully, but felt as though he was going to topple off. He scratched the horse's mane, marveling at Stormflame's powerful breaths and easy movement beneath him. He watched Sliet, wanting to protest that he could walk, especially if Marcel couldn't and needed the horse, but he didn't want to question her with how pissed she seemed.

Sliet, having finished healing the gelding, turned back to marcel, walking over and hefting him up over her shoulder with minimal effort. She carried him back over to the horse and laid him on his stomach across the saddle in front of raven. "don't let him fall... Unless you really want to. Then be my guest. But only the once, okay?" She instructed Raven while gathering up the reins.

Raven moved back as Sliet laid the other across the horse, nodding at her instruction and adjusting to hold the other steady if he had to. As she mentioned dropping him, he didn't say anything, but smiled a bit, though he didn't think it was really a joke. "Are you okay like that?" He asked softly, trying to keep his voice toneless, but he was worried for the brunet.

Marcel let out a yelp of surprise as Sliet picked him up almost effortlessly and slung him over Stormflame's back. He ignored Raven's question and tried to shift into less uncomfortable position.

Skip

Raven kept glancing at the clock, feeling anxiousness pool in his chest as he paced around unhappily, trying to clean things to keep his mind occupied. He didn't want to let his anxiety spill over into Stagnum; the boy was already nervous enough on his own. He was supposed to be the collected one here. He knew very little could go wrong, especially with the technology they had, and it was his eyes, they were already damaged... it wasn't his heart, it wasn't something they could make worse. "Are you ready Stagnum? We can get this over with and then when we get home we'll cook a big meal and you can help." He promised, knowing the other must be hungry from fasting for the surgery. He glanced away briefly, picking up his and stagnum's things and putting them in his satchel.

Stagnum frowned, listening to Raven running around the living space way faster than he usually did. What was he doing anyway? He shuffled over to the other when he was spoken to, reaching up for Raven to pick him up. He was having a hard time getting excited over anything, too tired, hungry and nervous for that.

Raven turned as the other came up to him, looking sort of pitiful. He crouched and scooped the boy into his arms, standing again. The boy was getting heavier now that he'd been getting proper care. That was good, though Raven wasn't sure how carrying him so far would go. As he walked out and shut the door with his foot, he patted the other's back, trying to comfort him a bit.

When they'd made it to the prep room, Raven gently set the boy on his feet, still holding his hand while a doctor approached. The two spoke a little, and the woman seemed very reassuring, but Raven still felt sick at the whole thing. He crouched down to Stagnum's level, giving the other a hug and holding on for a minute before letting go. "Okay Stagnum, the doctor is going to take you now and get you to lay down alright? Just do as they say; I'll be here when you wake up. There's nothing to worry about." He tried to assure the boy, though he felt like he was telling himself the same thing.

The head doctor, a woman with neatly cropped red hair, smiled at the child kindly out of instinct, though she remembered he couldn't really see her, and spoke up, reaching to take his hand from Raven. "Hello Stagnum, I'm Dr. Smith, I'm going to be looking after you today, are you all ready?"

"Um, he's a little shy," Raven added on uncertainly, trying to explain encase the boy didn't feel like speaking up, a little reluctant to let go of his hand, and feeling oddly bitter and protective as he did so.

stagnum frowned when raven spoke to him. wait, so he wasn't going to be there the whole time? what if he had a nightmare? what if he had a really good dream and needed someone to tell about it right away?he didn't think he would want to tell anyone else. The small boy jumped a little when he heard the strange doctor lady, trying to duck behind raven without letting go of his hand.

Raven felt a pain in his chest as the other tried to hide. He understood how the little one was feeling; especially where the kid had had been in the correctional facility. Surgeries and such were never a good thing, though he didn't know what exactly Stagnum had experianced there. Hopefully he hadn't gone through any. He lowered himself again, looking at the boy in worry. "It'll be okay Stagnum,  I wouldn't let anyone do anything bad to you. Not ever. You're going to wake up and feel a lot better, trust me, okay? You won't even blink and it'll be all done. If you're good I'll get you a surprise." He added hopefully

Raven smiled a little, patting Stagnum's head gently. "It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you, but I think you'll like it." He replied, letting the woman take hold of the boy. "You'll be fine. See you in a bit, okay?"

Smith reached down to pick up the boy, so he wouldn't have to try and follow her, and brought him into the operating room to get him ready. "Is that your brother?" She asked him in a friendly tone.

Raven watched them go and let out a shaky breath, standing awkwardly for a while before going out into the waiting area to sit down. He was pretty sure Caligo was going to meet him there, but  he wasn't really sure when. He looked at the things he'd brought for stagnum; some of the books he'd been reading him, so the boy could see the pictures, and an old kaleidoscope. The paint on it was chipped and faded from years of neglect, but it still worked just fine. He'd been almost surprised to find it, still hidden away in the ruins where he and Pel and stashed their favorite scavenged items as kids. He'd gone to look for their things, just to see, but hadn't really expected anything to still be there. He'd found other stuff as well, and pel's collection of mismatched pencil crayons, but he just wanted to hold onto those to give back to her later.

Stagnum shook his head as the strange lady picked him up. "nuh-uh. Thas Raben." The little one said softly, rubbing his eyes a bit tiredly.

Caligo hurried on his way to the medical area. He was supposed to meet Raven there a couple of minutes ago, but hey, at least he had managed to find some coffee. "Hey!" he greeted the other rather happily before noticing how he other looked rather upset. "Are you okay?" He asked, handing the other one of the coffees.

Raven looked up as Caligo approached, smiling a little and glancing at the coffee as he took it. "Thank you... "Im okay, just nervous for Stagnum." He replied truthfully. "I feel bad handing him over to doctors alone. The old facility doesn't give you good impressions about them." He added, then took a sip of the drink. He still wasn't used to the harsh, bitter liquid and how it made him even more agitated, but he didn't want to refuse it.

"He'll be fine. He's a tough little kid." Caligo reassured with an awkward smile. trying to suppress the others agitation as he felt it start to seep into his own nerves. He didn't know what the facility was like, not firsthand that is. Everyone heard the stories, saw it's effects.

Raven nodded, trying to take Caligo's comfort to heart, and taking a breath to try and calm himself down before he upset the other. After a while of chatting, he rested his head on the other's shoulder.

When Smith returned to let them know everything had gone okay and Stagnum was waking up, he felt his nervousness and excitement flood back in a torrent, and hurried with the others to the room. He walked up to Stagnum's bed, reaching out to gently rub the other's arm. "Hey Stagnum, how're you feeling buddy?" He asked softly.

Anderson stood at the back of the room, having arrived with Sliet. As quiet as he was, he was still happy for the kid, and wanted to see his reaction to waking up with sight again. Briar was nestled at his shoulder, but was relatively quiet; looking around the room curiously with their dark eyes.
