"Woah." Alex exclaimed. "Kat's going to kill you, that's awesome!" He hesitated before quieting down to look at the little girl.

She froze at first, tensing up as Sliet pulled the door away, and watching curiously. She approached the room uncertainly, still keeping Sliet and Alex in her vision with a wary expression as she took a long time to go past them, looking around at the door frame and finally stepping into the room. When she did, She looked back at them, still not seeming sure.

She laughed a little at Alex's reaction. It wasn't often that she got to use her strength like that. She observed the girl quietly kneeling down again when she looked back. "Whats up? you need more pillows or something?" she questioned the small girl, wondering what else there could be.

Ashi ignored the other this time, walking about the room with faint curiosity, glancing at the bed and hesitating. She walked over to it and looked at Sliet uncertainly, seeming to wait for something, and then slowly put her hands on the blankets, still watching for Sliet's reaction. She gave a little tug when the other didn't yell, but flinched at nothing, as if she'd made a mistake, before letting go of the blankets and looking back to Sliet, clearly trembling and watching the other again to see if she got angry.

Sliet watched the girl oddly, rather confused by her actions. She watched for a few moments more before turning to Alex. "Hey, Alex. Could you go and get me a broom so I can clean this mess up?" she asked him softly, jerking her chin in the direction of the bits of wood scattered on the floor.

Alex nodded, equally confused, but walked off to go find one from the kitchen.

Ashi, when the other didn't seem angry by her actions, started pulling the top comforter from the bed, still looking up every few seconds to make sure she wasn't in trouble, before piling it on the floor. With this, she knelt and patted it down before sitting on it. She carefully lay her head down on the soft blanket and blinked wearily, keeping Sliet in her field of view.

Sliet sat against the wall after the girl laid on the floor. still confused but trying to shrug it off. "the bed's probably more comfortable." she suggested, though she made no motion to move the girl. If Kat had a problem with the kid sleeping on the floor then she could say something herself later, but as far as she was concerned, the kid could sleep on the floor if she wanted too.

Alex came back dragging a broom. "Here." He held it out for a moment before realizing she was sitting down. "Kathrine and Otifer are making super." He added, pulling the broom across the rest of the floor and handed it to her.

Ashi stayed where she was, looking sleepier by the moment but refusing to close her eyes. She didn't know what to think of these kids. There were never any back where she'd lived. They didn't seem angry though, so that was nice.

Sliet looked up when Alex came back, thanking him and getting to her feet to quickly sweep up. She looked back to the girl once she was done. she was obviously tired, but seemed to be refusing sleep, maybe if they left her alone? was that a good idea? of course, she wasn't exactly eager to go get supper. Kat's culinary skills could be questionable at times.

Sliet wandered through the ruins aimlessly, climbing over and ducking under rubble with relative ease. She was in no particular hurry to get back, Alex was covering for her as he usually did when she went on her little walks. She froze at an unfamiliar sound, listening carefully. She'd never found anything living out here, animal or otherwise. She considered turning back briefly,It could have been soldiers, but on the other hand, it could have also been an animal, or nothing at all. What if it was a horse. She cautiously moved t investigate, creeping around the familiar remnants of the buildings.

Josey walked quietly through the ruins, taking in the cold, barren area, looking for any sort of shelter. He did his best to help along his father. The older man had been blinded badly, and wasn't in good shape regardless. He stumbled along after the boy weakly, shivering from the cold.
Looking back to see where they were, he noticed something move, and tensed, getting his father to stop, he drew his knife and pointed it out quickly, shaking like a leaf as dread filled him. Had the soldiers really fallowed them all this way?

Sliet stopped when she noticed the two, watching the boy curiously. She ducked down, unsure if they had seen her yet or not. She peeked out from her hiding place cautiously, eyeing the boy with the knife for a moment before deciding he wasn't a threat. She considered just going back and pretending this never happened, that would have been easy, but she very rarely got to meet anyone that wasn't part of their small group. This was an opportunity. "It's dangerous out here you know." she yelled from her spot, still unsure of what she was doing.

Josey looked over at the sound of a voice, not sure if it was robbers or just someone scavenging out here. He kept his knife on hand. "That's okay, it's worse out there!" He shouted back, realizing how passive and nonthreatening this sounded. "A-and, I can be dangerous too, so! Uh- So it's fine!" He attempted to sound menacing, hoping he could scare whoever was there away.

The older man fumbled to stop and lower his arm, knowing the boy wouldn't stand much of a chance against anyone out here, speaking out with a hoarse voice. "We are just trying to find temporary refuge, we have nothing to steal."

"Who said anything about stealing?" She half shouted from where she sat, almost offended. She hastily pushed herself to her feet looking over the large piece of rubble. "oh yeah. I'm sure you and your little knife will hold your own just fine against the radiation poisoning if you keep going in that direction." she snapped, pouting at the boy.

The boy looked at the other in surprise. "Hey, you're just a kid!" He remarked, seeming annoyed that he'd been so scared of someone his own age, though brightened a little, looking over his shoulder as she mentioned the radiation. "I just want to find a place for my dad to rest. He's hurt. We've been walking all night." He admitted tiredly, not mentioning his own hunger or exhaustion, he didn't want to seem weak in front of the newcomer.

Sliet regarded the boy with mild annoyance. She was not a kid. She grew far more curious When he described their problem. She bit her lip thoughtfully. She wanted to help, but she couldn't let them find the station. There was that one place... " Whats your name?" she asked somewhat warily, climbing over the rubble.

"My name's Josey." He replied. "What's yours?" The boy asked curiously. If this girl was out here, then maybe there was somewhere for his dad to rest after all. He put his knife away, loosing his wariness around the other. She wasn't a soldier or a bandit, so she couldn't be that bad, could she?

"Sliet." She replied after some consideration. She didn't see what harm her name could do. She looked between he pair and the ground several times before deciding. She couldn't just leave them out here. It wasn't right. "Follow me." She instructed, heading in the direction of her little hideout.

After a moment, Josey fallowed, going carefully to lead his father a long. He felt his hope soar the the other might help them, or maybe even have something to eat. "If you have shelter, I can work! I help my dad with the farm! I can look after animals and I'm pretty strong, we looked after horses and.. and cows." He said, his expression falling a little bit at this.

Sliet looked back at the boy worriedly. It would probably be bad if they stayed for too long. She had no idea what Kat would do if she found them out here. That and the fact that there wasn't enough food in hers and Alex's stash to last very long. "Probably better if you don't stay around very long. No animals around either. Just what you can find for food in old buildings and stuff." She explained, almost sad that they couldn't stick around. the fresh company would be welcomed.

"Oh..." Josey murmured, the disappointment clear in his voice. He wasn't sure where the two of them could go now. They had left One Tree after the fighting had broken out, but all their belongings were there. The only other option might be going to the federation, but that thought disgusted him. As they slowed, he looked around, hoping there was somewhere for his father to lay.

Sliet chewed on the inside of her lip again, feeling increasingly guilty for being unable to help them. when they reached the little hideout, she shuffled around, looking for the blankets that Alex and her had liberated and hidden from the station, laying them out on the floor. Josey said that they looked after animals. past tense. She could only guess at what had happened, but the odds were against that it was anything good, so she didn't ask. The silence was driving her crazy though.

As Sliet laid out the blankets, Josey struggled to help his father down without letting him fall or collapse. When the quiet man was comfortable, Josey sat on the floor next to him with his legs crossed, watching over the older man. "Damn soldiers..." He muttered as the other seemed to slip into sleep, adjusting the blankets and going quiet himself for a moment. He was exhausted, though he didn't want to be rude and lay down or fall asleep. He wondered if there was anything he could do for the other's eyes. They were still crusted with dried blood and didn't look to good. He couldn't think of where they would find a healer, though.

Sliet watched them for a moment before reaching for the small stash of food. She knew she could have fixed the mans eyes herself. It would only take a few seconds. She wanted to, but it was already dangerous having anyone this close to the station. She couldn't risk it. She looked up at the boy at the mention of soldiers, Handing the boy some food and giving him her full attention. "what happened?" she asked softly, trying to be sensitive about it.

Josey took the food, looking at her with grateful eyes. He hadn't eaten in days, and they'd been on foot for at least one. "Dad, he-" He realized the other was sleeping already, and hesitated, splitting it up into halves and taking the lesser part. The man needed to eat more than him if he was going to get better. He ate quickly, trying not to be rude, but too hungry to eat slowly. When the other questioned him, he looked up, his expression turning bitter. "It was the federation soldiers. The ones that are supposed to be protecting One tree. They've been taking our things for years, but, last week, they said they ran out of rations, and they started killing our animals. We tried telling them that we need them to survive, but they just laughed and we couldn't do much. Y'know.. they've got rifles and everything, we don't have anything." He lowered his voice. "Some of them got drunk, and started hanging around our house, and they were shooting at our cows. Dad tried to tell them to leave, and said they couldn't take anything else, and threatened one of them. They-" he broke off uncertainly, feeling his stomach twist at the memories. "They beat him and one of them cut his eyes. They took everything from our house and set it on fire." He explained wearily. "We went to stay at a neighbor's house, but they made us leave because they didn't have anything to spare, and... well, dad can't work like that.. so.." He trailed off, not sure what else to say.

Sliet listened to the boy in a mix of awe, horror and anger. That was terrible! This is what was happening while they were stuck here? She knew better than the others what the consequences could be if she was caught, but this still didn't feel right. She turned to the man as Josey grew quiet, starting to notice how quiet the area really was. Her face paled at the realization, shoulders tense. Including her own, she could only hear two heartbeats. She looked around frantically, shaking her head to make sure she had heard correctly. Finally, she quickly reached out to touch Josey's hand lightly to be sure she was right. but that meant... no. Her gaze flicked to the man in terror.

Josey glanced up when the other didn't reply, then noticed her anxious expression. What was she scared of? "They aren't coming here, I don't think-" He tried to assure her, watching her as she touched his hand in confusion. "What's wrong?" He asked, feeling worry settle in his chest, as she stared at him and then looked at is dad. He didn't understand what was going on, or if there was anything to be afraid of nearby or something.
